Downloads
Since downloads are submitted by third parties, you need to take full responsibilty for downloading and using them. We're very careful to keep viruses out of our downloads. I scan everything before it gets uploaded to the site.
Utilities
These are programs that should ease the job of NLP rule scripting and speed up your knowledgebase construction.
This first utility is the script generator. It has been re-written so it will work on all Win32 operating systems including Windows 2000.
That's all we have so far. If you build any cool utilities please let us know and we'll share them here.
Engines
Apparently the Yapanda engine that comes on My Book's CD will work on Windows 2000 because it's java based. For some reason it just won't install. YIML.zip contains a version of the engine that will work on 2000. I don't have a 2000 machine handy at the moment, so you're on your own. I'm also lobbying with Yapanda to share with us, an engine modification that allows the use our scripts with custom 3dM3Now heads . 3dMeNow, which sells for only $15.00 and is worth much more. The YIML.zip file contains a new version of the Yapanda engine which uses Yapanda's standard Markup Language -- YIML. They tell me this new package works with Windows 2000. Unfortunately I don't yet have all the instruction on how to install and use it. I'm assuming some of you will figure it out, because they tell me it's pretty simple. So I didn't wait. This package expands what you can do with the engine as well, including such things as marcors. These are whole classes of concepts that you can cover in a single rule. For example you can detect if an object is an animal, if a name is male or female etc. Until I get the instructions, you'll have to wing it on your own, but I'm told it's fairly straight foward for people who are familiar with XML There are is a sample chat file to help you figure things out. In addition this download includes a core knowledge base with tons of rules based on Yapanda's experience. You just have to complete them with in-character responses for your V-person.

Here is the Zip you'll need to install the Yapanda software on your Windows 2000 machine. I'm sorry about that. I didn't realize there was an issue until the book was out. I'd tested on everything else and assumed..... Yapanda discovered that it was my install program that was the problem. The solution is to download the entire Yapanda folder and unzip it to the following location: C:/Program Files/yapanda. Then read the w2000fix.txt file for more instructions. DownLoad it here. Your Scripts Right Here!
As people submit their personality scripts, I'll post them here. The first is actually part of the YIML.zip mentioned above. I don't have the instructions yet, but I'm posting the download because I know some of you can figure out how to use it. The files in this package can be used to update your Yapanda engine adding several new capabilities, such as the ability to detect male and female names, cuss words, colors etc. You can be clever in applying these new capabilities and enhance the illusion of conscious human behavior. In addition they've included a rule base that includes many common and not so common conversational situations. You can fill them out with responses to match your character's personality. The moment I get more instructions on how to use this, I'll post them. Come on folks, be brave. Give us some personality...make it quirky. Share the spirit.
