I'm a columnist at VFX World.com in Hollywood (The Digital Eye) and a contributing editor of STUDIO/monthly in New york. Fortunately I'm also consulting with Digital Dimensions on the design of virtual human teachers. These bilingualV-teachers will be working with Latino children, teaching them math. It's a breakthrough in education because the V-teachers can track a child's learning style and progress adapting along the way to optimize the learning experience for the child.

Speaking is one of my passions. I spend a fair amount of my time at the podium at confrences here and abroad. My Daughter Danielle Plantec and I present seminars at the Stuttgart Film Academy in Ludwigsburg Germany. Our topics range from character animation, to virtual human design to visual fx. One of my favorite presentations is for young animators looking for work in the field. Dani and I teach them how to create a convincing demo of their work to send to the studios.

My current book "Virtual Humans" is popular world wide. It explains how to create animated, intelligent virtual humans, with step by step instructions and software to experiment with. It is rate five stars at Amazon.

The Rocky Mountains are my home. I live at 8,500 feet altitude in Pitkin County Colorado on the outskirts of Aspen. I believe I maintain the highest koi pond in America and one of the highest in the world. With my family I spent many years breeding endangered cockatoos, but no longer do that. When I had a large number of the birds they began to instigate eachother to screech. I almost went deaf and my neighbors in Beverly Hills were not so tollerent of the noise. Now I just keep 35 sex craved koi who breed all spring and summer, one deaf cat and one handicapped dog.

I'm married to Adele Bernstein Plantec and have two daughters. Danielle who is in Digital FX and Michelle who is on staff at Stanford University as a Computational Neurobiologist studying neurons with a very cool and unusual 3D electron microscope.

I consider myself a very happy camper up here close to the wilderness with a lovely family and a great view. From time to time I'll post image here in my photo gallery. Sometimes I post images taken from my windows. If you want to see more of my work you can visit my large Caedes Gallery www.caedes.net.
